Hiking to Devils Bathtub in Spearfish Canyon is a popular hike for a reason. It is beautiful.
This crumbling limestone canyon is awe inspiring. The rock formations are just amazing.
If you are going to hike up to the tub, plan on getting your feet wet. The unmarked trail weaves in and out of the creek all the way.
Finding the hike doesn’t have to be difficult. From the turn in Spearfish off Colorado Blvd onto Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway it is about 8 miles to Cleopatra Place. There is a small gravel parking lot there. Park and cross the bridge. You’ll see the trail on the south side.
If you love the outdoors, put hiking Spearfish Canyon high on your list.

What would be the closest place to bring my rv to camp that is closest to the devils bathtub or the best…someone had mentioned something about a craigs campground, but cant seem to locate it
Camping in Spearfish at Chris’s Campground or the City of Spearfish Campground would be the closest with full hookups. If you don’t need full hookups for your camper, Hanna Campground is a nice secluded campground in Spearfish Canyon.
Could kids ages 11, 8 and 5 handle this hike? And, when you say “unmarked” does that mean said children and their parents will easily get lost?? Thanks!
They could totally handle it. By unmarked, I mean there are no trail markers. However, the trail is right along the stream and the path is obvious. I think it would be difficult to get lost.
