Our family looks forward to the third Saturday in October all year. We love to go pheasant hunting in the Mitchell area. And, no matter how many birds we have at the end of the day – we always have a great time.
The Mitchell area tends to have loads of pheasants, a couple of hard winters and CRP land being planted to corn has reduced the numbers a bit. It is still a great hunting destination. We like to kick off the day shooting some clay pigeons, just to make sure we can still aim. Maybe a quick trip to Cabela’s if we need any last minute supplies.
If you plan to go pheasant hunting, I recommend the Mitchell area. However, the crew you go hunting with is more important than where. In my opinion, I enjoy spending time with my fellow hunters as much or more than the hunt itself.
