Once a year you have a chance to view the Crazy Horse Memorial up close. You can hike right up to the face of the worlds largest mountain carving in progress.
Mark your calendar for June 1st and 2nd 2013.
Usually admission is free, with the donation of canned food items. There is usually a small volksmarch fee (about $3).
This is a very popular event and parking can be far from the starting point. There are usually shuttles to take you to and from the parking areas.
The trail is over 6 miles round trip and there is a 500 foot change in elevation. There are water stations along the trail. No pets are allowed.
Prepare for changes in weather, the Black Hills weather can change quickly. Plan to take all day and take your time.
Big news in 2013. A second Autumn Volksmarch is planed for September 29th and 30th.

2015 Crazy Horse Volksmarch is planned for June 6th and 7th.
